I gotta say, I was teasing Micah all before the contest but I really like the way this came out, I'm digging the gray paper! This is really tough, they all kick butt, but I'm gonna have to vote for Micah!
The design is good. You incorporated some witnesses while deep in the background, you can still make out there are people behind Hellboy. Although there are two main people, as opposed the other artists that put many in their art, yours showed some definite emotion to Hellboy and the one he is pinning the touch with the tongue sticking out, great!!! The arm action isn't too extended back, so you can get the feeling that Hellboy is about to hit him good. You are gaining experience young jedi...my vote goes to you.
As a Hellboy fan I think this is the best representation. I love the composition and energy coming off of Hellboy. In my opinion I think incorporating other well known comic characters is a bit of a cheat. People are supposed to be voting for the best Hellboy, not "Oh, he included Wolverine and I love Wolverine so I'll vote for that one." This composition isn't too crowded like the others. I also prefer the medium used here over the other marker renderings. It provides for a much tighter image. Great work by all though.
Great job, Micah! You know I'm your biggest fan from way back, at least twenty-five years ago. I like your drawing the best because it tells the story best and of course because I love your art. The other two drawings were good, but confusing for me since the dark and bright colors were equally used making it difficult to see which figures were in front or behind the others. I do like the gray marker you used.
I adore this one! J. Scott Campbell did a few grey paper/white pencil drawings in his sketchbooks and I fell in love with the technique. It's so good to see it being done with Hellboy in such a fantastic way! Great job, Micah!
